Common Questions
Do I need an account to use CORTEX?
No. CORTEX boots into a usable state immediately. You only sign in to third-party services (banking via Plaid, vehicle via Tesla, calendar, etc.) when you choose to connect them. Each integration is opt-in.
Where is my data stored?
Local-first by default. Your voice, memory, settings, and personal signals live on your device. Anything that requires the cloud (model inference, certain integrations) is clearly labeled and you control whether it runs.

How do I delete everything CORTEX has on my device?
Open the iOS app, go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete My Data. The flow asks for two confirmations and then wipes every Keychain entry, every cached file, every preference, and every saved memory.
This action is irreversible. After it completes you can also uninstall the app, which deletes whatever the wipe didn’t already remove.
Why does the Status tab take a moment to fully populate?
Status renders the lightweight panels (vitals, network, alerts) immediately and brings up the heavier subsystems (engine grid, multi-node mesh, security posture, recent logs) about 400 milliseconds after first paint. This is intentional , it keeps the tab responsive and prevents the watchdog from flagging long initial renders.
Why does the Tesla “Garage” tile show “Garage not connected”?
The Garage tile currently routes through the third-party myQ app. If myQ isn’t installed on your device, CORTEX surfaces an in-app prompt instead of dumping you into the App Store. We’re wiring native Tesla HomeLink support next, which will replace the myQ dependency.
Why is my credit score showing “Not Linked”?
CORTEX only displays a credit score when a real bureau is connected. Until that connector is wired in your Settings, the credit ring shows a dash and the “Not Linked” label so the screen reflects what the system actually knows , not a placeholder.
What permissions does CORTEX ask for, and why?
Microphone , voice interaction. Speech recognition , transcribing what you say. Calendar , surfacing today’s schedule and creating reminders. Notifications , predictive alerts you’ve enabled. Each can be revoked from iOS Settings any time.
I’m on TestFlight. How do I report a bug?
Take a screenshot of what you’re seeing, then use TestFlight’s “Send Beta Feedback” option. Include a one-line description of what you were doing. The crash diagnostics and device state attach automatically.

How do I cancel a subscription?
If you subscribed inside the iOS app, cancel from the App Store: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. CORTEX cannot cancel App Store subscriptions on your behalf. If you subscribed outside the App Store (web, direct), see the email receipt for the cancel link.
Does CORTEX work on Mac and Apple Watch?
Yes. The CORTEX app ships an iPhone target, an iPad target, an Apple Watch companion, and a Home Screen widget. The SIGNAL ZERO Mac surface is in active development and ships separately as a notarized Mac binary , not via the Mac App Store.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Use Settings → Founder Memory → Export to dump your memory vault as JSON. Future versions will add finance and conversation exports. If you need an export before that ships, email support@cortexnode.ai and we’ll handle it manually.
System Status
Service status for CORTEX cloud services (model routing, sync, voice synthesis fallbacks): status.cortexnode.ai.
If the iOS app is unresponsive but status is green, the issue is almost always local. Force-quit the app and reopen. If the problem persists, follow the “Delete My Data” flow above to return to a fresh state and re-link your accounts.
What this page can’t do
This page does not collect any personal data. There is no form, no analytics, no tracker. Email is how we reach each other.
If you wrote in and we haven’t replied within 48 hours on a weekday, send a follow-up to the same address , the message likely landed in a spam folder somewhere. Real humans read every email.
